MALAGA, Spain (AFP) - Nigeria cruised to a 2-0 win over Sudan in a 2008 African Nations Cup warm-up match despite fielding a virtual second string side.

Spain-based Ikechukwu Uche opened the scoring early in the second half and a late blunder by the Sudan goalkeeper gifted a goal to Mannaseh Ishiaku from German club MSV Duisburg.

Uche was later included by German coach Berti Vogts in the 23-man squad for the tournament in Ghana from January 20 to February 10, but there was no place for Ishiaku.

"I am always happy when I win, but this was not important. It was a training match and the boys were tired having trained twice the previous day and again on the day of the match.

"But the passing, the movement and the spirt was important. The young players did very well and I believe the future is bright for the Super Eagles," Vogts said in the southern Spanish city.

Nigeria, ranked among the strongest contenders, are in the 'Group of Death' with equally powerful Ivory Coast, Mali and Benin while Sudan appear outsiders in Group C beside title holders Egypt, Cameroon and Zambia.

Cameroon outclassed Burkina Faso club Etoile Filante 6-1 in Ouagadougou, where they are warming up for the biennial tournament after post-election violence in Kenya scuppered plans to train at high altitude there.

Mohamadou Iddrissou scored twice and Bertin Tomou, Geremi Njitap, Alain Nkong and Joseph Desire Job once for the four-time African champions and all those on target made the final squad of German coach Otto Pfister.

Angola came from behind in the Algarve to defeat Portuguese second division outfit Portimonense 2-1 with Manchester United-bound Manucho Goncalves equalising and Flavio Amado snatching the 59th-minute winner.

Goncalves, who earned a three-year contract with United after impressing manager Sir Alex Ferguson during trials, scored the only goal in a weekend triumph over Dutch club Willem II Tilburg.

The 'Black Antelopes', who have not progressed beyond the first round in three previous Nations Cup appearances, are in a wide open Group D with 2004 champions Tunisia, Senegal and South Africa.

Benin, considered no-hopers having drawn such strong first-round opponents, lost 2-1 to America FC in Botafogo, south of Rio de Janeiro, as they continued the Brazil leg of preparations under German coach Reinhard Fabisch.
