It was disappointment for the Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane duo here Wednesday as Liverpool stuttered to a goalless draw against Standard Liege in the final Champions League qualifying match.
haha!!! love this line - "It looked as if their defenders had forgotten that Peter Crouch had been sold to Portsmouth in the close season." I'm sure pretty boy Torres and Keane will pick it up later, but glad to see them struggle a bit.
Well, well, well! The real football started last night and after all the pre-season hype regarding Liverpool and their most potent strike force in Europe it was business as usual. Liverpool were as average as ever and were lucky not to be going into the second leg with a goal (or goals) deficit. I still think Liverpool will go through but as I have stated all along through pre season they will not be able to produce the consistency that is required to win a major honour. Arsenal’s youngest performed on the top stage again but like seasons gone by they just wont have the mettle to produce season long. So its how it was, Chelsea will push United to the limit again this season and it is a tough one to call who will come out on top. Arsenal will battle it out to try and secure another season in the champion’s league and all the millions that go with it. The only change this season is that we may finally see an assault from the big four wannabes making a half decent attempt to grab the gold mine that is fourth place in the premiership, will it be the year that Spurs, Villa or Everton finally live up to their fans expectations and push Liverpool into the UEFA Cup. Only time will tell, let battle commence! RED ARMY
