Bogota Millonarios in action |
|
This weekend violence erupted once again in Colombian soccer.
In the capital city of Bogotá the Santa Fe goalkeeper suffered facial wounds when unruly Millonarios fans threw stones at the bus in which the victorious Santa Fe players were leaving the Campin Stadium. Jose Ramiro, the reserve goalkeeper suffered cuts to his face when shattered glass from the stones cut his face.
In another such related incident in Cucuta a further three fans were stabbed during a Copa Mustang match at the General Santander Stadium when the hosts Cucuta Deportivo beat Chico 3 – 0. None of the injuries were reported as serious after the fans had been rushed to the Red Cross Hospital.
These two incidents follow on from the incident on 22 March in which over eighty fans were injured, including six police officers, during a match between Cali and America.

As a Millonarios fan I'm really unhappy with the behaviour of these fans. The club is going through a rough phase already with the manager - Mario Vanemerak - being suspended for about 7 games after damaging a locker room door at Cucuta, I believe.Time for a new atmosphere at the club, throw out the manager and maybe even the board that probably protects him. The team needs a calm, reliable manager now.
