LONDON (AFP) - A last gasp goal by Carlton Cole completed a comeback by Premiership side West Ham on Tuesday to give the Hammers a 2-1 victory over Championship outfit Coventry City in their League Cup fourth round clash.

All the goals came in the second-half with Coventry taking the lead through Jay Tabb in the 67th minute only for West Ham to draw level four minutes later thanks to an own goal by Marcus Hall.

Tabb was on hand to head Isaac Osbourne's cross into the Hammers net, a deserved reward for Coventry's attacking play which had sometimes seen them overrun the Premiership side.

However fortune turned against them shortly afterwards as Portuguese international Luis Boa Morte's cross was turned into his own net by Hall with Andy Marshall left flatfooted.

And with the match seemingly headed for extra-time former Chelsea striker Cole pounced on a mistake by Ben Turner, after more good work by Boa Morte, to break the hearts of Coventry players and supporters alike.

For West Ham the joy at reaching the last eight may be tempered by an injury suffered by star central defender Anton Ferdinand, who went off five minutes from the end.
