Portuguese side Uniao de Leiria has appointed a new coach after Paulo Duarte, seen here in September 2007, resigned following four consecutive defeats. The club is currently at the bottom of the first division following its worst start to the season in 25 years.

LISBON, Portugal (AFP) - Vitor Oliveira is the new coach of first division side Uniao de Leiria, taking over from Paulo Duarte who resigned on Monday after a fourth consecutive defeat.

It will be a second stint for Oliveira at Leiria having taken them into the top flight after the 1997/98 season. He will be in charge until the end of the season.

Leiria are currently languishing at the foot of the first division with just three points from nine games and are without a victory all season. It is the club's worst start to the season in 25 years.
