GLASGOW, Nov 7 (SW) – Celtic, holders of the Scottish League Cup, like Manchester United in the English League Cup, crashed out last night.
Falkirk won the penalty shootout in sudden death after the two teams failed to score a goal during normal time.
Each side scored during extra time. Jan Vennegoor’s angled shot was headed home by Maciej Zurawski. A minute later a cross by Falkirk’s Alan Gow was volleyed past goalkeeper Artur Boruc by Anthony Stokes to make sure of a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout Celtic’s Evander Sno missed the target thereby giving Falkirk the win.
