KRAKOW, Sep 19 (SW) – Former Romanian international Dan Petrescu has been sacked as manager by Polish outfit Wisla Krakow.

"The board has decided to dismiss Petrescu with immediate effect,” confirmed deputy chairman Jerzy Jurczynski.

"Our motivation is the poor results at the start of the season."

The move is sure to shock the former Chelsea utility as Wisla are the only undefeated side in the Polish league after 7 games, sitting second in the table with 3 wins and 4 draws to start the campaign.

A 1-0 home defeat to Iraklis of Greece in the UEFA Cup didn’t help Petrescu’s cause.
